What I liked about the game after an interview with Morgan, NBC Sports, youth and her emotions show, and she was talking about Japan. You can not put it all on the solos, though, especially in the third assessment of Sinclair, who was only a title that has penetrated into the left-hand post.

This was an epic semi-final. Canada is going home with a loss, but they pushed the U.S. team on the verge of exhausting and just came up short. Megan Rapinoe, with its bending a corner kick in the 55th and 30 in the basement of the 71st, was a sensation in America. She deserves to NBC Sports after the interview. NBC was just talking to Abby Wambach and Alex Morgan.

Something tells me that winning the title of Morgan is just the beginning of a long line of incredible moments, it will have been an exceptional career.

McLean, 23, was a battle with mononucleosis after last season, which took about a month to overcome, but he recovered well enough to participate in almost all the Eagles' voluntary workouts in South Jersey during the lockout NFL.

The Eagles refused to discuss his condition, saying only that he is undergoing more tests.

But Tuesday was a day when the situation finally be explained.

"They seem to be that we in order, until the gag (Tuesday)," McLean said Andre Sporting News on Monday. "But he's fine, he's fine. That I can say. ... I believe (Jeremy will be able to play this season).

"We will certainly have some news (Tuesday)," Andre said. "That's when we find out exactly what's going on."

But Tuesday was just more of the same.

"We do not really have an update for you," coach Andy Reid said during a morning press conference at Lehigh. "We're still waiting on tests to enter, and then we can you this information."

When Reid was asked about the statement, Andre McLean, he glanced at his watch.

"We're not done today," Reed said.

When there were no updates during the day, the Eagles general manager, Howie Roseman was asked in an interview on 97,5 FM in Philadelphia, if he thought that the news will be coming in the next 24 to 48 hours.

"I hope so," said Roseman.

Roseman and Reid have repeatedly said that there are details on the status of McLean that they can not discuss because of privacy laws, but they sure McLean will play this season. Roseman confirmed that on the radio.

"We want to share information with our fans and make sure they know what's going on," he said. "But in certain situations, it is beyond our control. Minutes we were all that we can share, we're going to do it. It's not like we are nothing in return."

The Eagles left Lehigh on Tuesday, and they have their second preseason game Thursday in Pittsburgh. After that they will return to practice on the NovaCare Complex in Philadelphia.

"We fully expect, Jeremy is part of our football team, and again, I do not want to go too much into it, but we expect that it is time to return here soon, with us when we return to the NovaCare", Roseman said.

Ronnie Brown to Dolphins

He showed them that he can put his ego, if that is what a bad situation requires. He acknowledged that his presence just may no longer be enough to get everyone to comply. Shanahan once again stirred confidence, most of which was lost for 6-10 last season's fiasco, that the common good of the franchise is its primary focus.

After joining Redskins, often wax nostalgic about Shanahan on his days with the Denver Broncos, sharing anecdotes illustrating his ability to convince players to commit themselves to his program. He is clearly proud of his reputation as a no-nonsense coach who gets the most out of players.

But it was a different time, in far different organization.

Harsh approach Shanahan was once so well in advance of some players to become Pro Bowlers had no chance of success with Haynesworth. Not long after Haynesworth was the best player playing his position and pocket millions before the meeting Shanahan.

It isn't as if Logan Couture doesn't appreciate the recognition that came Tuesday when he was named as one of three finalists for the Calder Trophy that goes annually to the NHL's top rookie.

"I'm sure once the season is over, I'll reflect on it," he said, "but right now I'm only focused on playoffs."

Couture had just come off the ice after the morning skate and talked about the importance of a strong showing by the Sharks after they were drubbed 4-0 on Saturday night by the Los Angeles Kings.

"We can get back to it tonight," he said. "We've been a good road team all year. Game 3 is huge, pivotal in every series. We need a great effort tonight."

Couture did call it a great honor to be a Calder finalist as selected by voting of the Professional Hockey Writers Association.

"This year there's a lot of great rookies in the league," he said, "and to be named one of the top three is a great honor to everyone here in the Sharks organization."

The winner will be named June 22 in Las Vegas at the league's annual awards ceremony. Couture said that will be his second trip to the gambling mecca and that his parents already are making arrangements to get there.

"I found out yesterday, and I told my dad, and he was saying how he's already planning the trip out there," the 22-year-old center said. "He's pretty excited, and my whole family is pumped up."

Couture played 25 games for the Sharks in the 2009-10 season -- the maximum allowed for rookie consideration this year -- before totaling 32 goals and 56 points in 2010-11.

But that extra experience may have cost him votes in competition with Skinner, an 18-year-old, first-year pro who finished with 31 goals and more points than any other rookie, 63.

Grabner, 23, is playing for his third NHL organization and was claimed on waivers in October from the Florida Panthers. He finished the season with 34 goals and 52 points.

Sharks coach Todd Mc Lellan said the entire organization should take pride in Couture's presence as a finalist.

"It's a reward for him having a tremendous year, his commitment to his teammates and to his team," he said. "We've got our fingers crossed now that he can finish it off with a win."

Sharks defense man Ian White was back in the lineup Tuesday and acknowledged earlier that he felt fortunate to have missed only one game after suffering a head injury in the final minute of the first period of Game 1.

"You look across the league at players who sustained similar injuries," he said. "Some guys, it can end their career even, but you see guys missing big chunks of the season, so I feel really lucky to not have sustained much damage."

White was hurt when he was hit from behind by Kings center Jarret Stoll, who was also back in the Los Angeles lineup after serving a one-game suspension.

With White cleared to play, McLellan sat rookie Justin Braun as the Sharks went back to their Game 1 lineup.

Kenny Mckinley

Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels will speak to the media Tuesday about the death of wide receiver Kenny McKinley.

McKinley was found dead Monday afternoon in a Colorado home. Authorities said it appeared the young wide receiver died from a self-inflicted gun shot wound.

He was 23.

"Deputies discovered a male in the second-floor master bedroom of the home and determined that male was deceased," the Arapahoe County sheriff's department said in a statement. "Although the death of Mr. McKinley appears to be the result of a self-inflicted gunshot, the investigation into this matter ... is ongoing."

McKinley was selected by the Broncos in the fifth round (141st overall) of the 2009 NFL draft from the University of South Carolina. He attended South Cobb High School in Austell, Georgia.

He played in eight games with the Broncos as a rookie, but was placed on injured reserve before the start of the 2010 season after suffering a knee injury, according to the team.

"Everyone with the Broncos is shocked and saddened by the loss of Kenny McKinley," Broncos President and CEO Pat Bowlen said in a statement on the Broncos' website. "He was part of the Broncos family and will be greatly missed by our organization. My most heartfelt condolences go out to Kenny's family and friends."

McKinley is at least the third Bronco to have died since 2007. Cornerback Darrent Williams, 24, was fatally shot near downtown Denver, Colorado, on January 1, 2007. Running back Damien Nash, 24, died after collapsing at a charity basketball game later that winter.

McDaniels, the Broncos coach, called the death tragic.

"Kenny had a promising future on the football field, but more importantly, he was a great teammate whose smile and personality could light up the room. This is a tragic loss for our football team, and his family is in all of our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time," McDaniels said.

Clippers Grizzlies:

Last night saw the Los Angeles Clippers, take on the likes of the Memphis Grizzlies at the FedExForum. And Grizzlies’ coach Lionel Hollins was trying every way that he could, to slow down the red-hot Clippers in last night’s game.

He appeared to be running out of ways to slow them down, but nothing he came up with worled as Clippers point guard Baron Davis, was tearing up the Grizzlies defense. By the third quarter, Davis and his team held an 89-77 lead.

But then, according to a report at nba.com, Hollins managed to get the break that he needed, when a water main broke in the Forum and the arena was evacuated for 17 minutes. By the time they returned, Davis and the Clippers had cooled off.

This allowed the Grizzlies to take possession of the game and finish up with a 104-102 victory over the Clippers. After the game, Hollins said that he thought in order for the Grizzlies to win, that they would have to figure out a way to stop Davis.

Norm Chow:

Despite several internet reports and clamoring from message board geeks, Norm Chow is not the USC offensive coordinator as of 11:10 PM PST. Chow still remains employed by UCLA as their offensive coordinator. For how much longer? That remains to be seen. However, here is what we do know about his status:

-According to the Los Angeles Times, USC and Chow are currently in discussion about joining Kiffin's staff but nothing has been finalized.

-USC desperately wants Chow and is prepared to throw piles of money at him.

-But Chow really wants a hefty salary, similar to what he got from the Tennessee Titans a few years ago. He has told people he would only return to USC under the condition of receiving "NFL-type money." Will 'SC go that high?

-His UCLA salary isn't too bad. Yes, he makes just $690,000, but if he stays in Westwood, he will earn a $250,000 retention bonus on April 1. Based on finances alone, it would be more than reasonable if Chow does decide to return to Neuheisel's staff

-For the most part, this is all we really know. Essentially, the only known fact is that USC and Chow are reportedly in "negotiations." Whether that means 'SC is simply gauging Chow's interest or actually working out the details on a contract remains to be seen.

Lane Kiffin USC:

Tennessee's Lane Kiffin has been named the next head coach at Southern California, athletic director Mike Garrett announced on Tuesday.

Kiffin replaces Pete Carroll, who jumped to the NFL as coach of the Seattle Seahawks.

"This was not an easy decision," he said Tuesday night, reading a brief statement on Tennessee's campus. "This is something that happens very quick. We've been here 14 months, and the support has been unbelievable here. I really believe the only place I would have left here to go was ... Southern California."

The hiring was first reported by ESPN.com.

"We are really excited to welcome Lane Kiffin back to USC," Garrett said in a statement. "I was able to watch him closely when he was an assistant with us and what I saw was a bright, creative young coach who I thought would make an excellent head coach here if the opportunity ever arose. I'm confident he and his staff will keep USC football performing at the high level that we expect."

Kiffin, the former Oakland Raiders coach, led the Volunteers for only one season.

Kiffin has been on the move of late. He was 7-6 in his one season at Tennessee and 5-15 in one-plus seasons with the Raiders before being fired in September 2008.

He was a member of the USC coaching staff from 2001 to '06, first as wide receivers coach and then as offensive coordinator under Carroll.

Kiffin's contract calls for him to pay a $800,000 buyout for leaving Tennessee after only one season.

"Those payments shall be made in monthly installments over a 36-month period," the contract reads. It was not immediately clear if USC would pay any of that sum.

Tennessee will now make a run at Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp to be the Vols' next coach, a source close to the situation told ESPN.com's Chris Low late Tuesday. Texas has said that Muschamp will succeed Mack Brown as Longhorns head coach, but no timetable has been set for that transition. The source says that Muschamp is Tennessee's No. 1 target.

Meanwhile, Tennessee wide receivers coach Kippy Brown, who joined Kiffin's staff less than four weeks ago, will be named interim coach of the Volunteers. He had been given the opportunity to follow Kiffin to USC as well, sources told Low.

In another part of the blockbuster staff changes, a deal is being worked on in hopes of bringing longtime offensive coordinator Norm Chow back to USC in the same capacity, sources close to the school told ESPN's Shelley Smith.

The current UCLA offensive coordinator held that position with USC from 2001-04. He was also the coordinator at Brigham Young from 1973-99, at NC State in 2000 and with the Tennessee Titans from 2005-07.

Kiffin will bring his father and defensive coordinator, Monte Kiffin, and assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron to Southern California with him.

Orgeron was with the Trojans for seven seasons before becoming the head coach at Mississippi and then an assistant with the New Orleans Saints.

Lane and Monte Kiffin and Orgeron will hold a news conference on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET in the Heritage Hall Varsity Lounge at USC.

Some USC players were excited about the hiring of Kiffin.

"It's great news," starting quarterback Matt Barkley told ESPNLosAngeles.com's Steve Mason. "I remember meeting Kiff way back on the recruiting trail when I was a freshman in high school. I liked him when I met him. I like that he knows how to live and breathe the Trojan way."

Barkley, who was tapped by Carroll to start as a true freshman and helped lead the team to a 9-4 record and a victory in the Emerald Bowl on Dec. 26, also expressed relief that there will be stability in terms of offensive system.

"It's comforting to know that not a lot is going to change," Barkley said. "Kiff will have his own way of doing things, but I'm glad the offense isn't going to be a whole lot different."

Running back Marc Tyler is also on board.

"This is really good," he told ESPNLosAngeles.com. "Lane is great. He's got a lot of energy. I talked to him and coach [Steve] Sarkisian all the time when I was coming in. This is really good."

When told Orgeron was coming with Kiffin, he said, "Wow, Really? That's awesome too."

Garrett had been quiet about the hiring process until dropping this bombshell.

"Lane brings a lot to the table," Garrett said. "He has a coaching background both in the pros and in the best collegiate conferences. He has a great command of the X's and O's. He is familiar with the Trojan landscape and will be a great representative of our university. He keeps the game fun. And, very importantly, he has proven to be one of the finest recruiters anywhere."

The 34-year-old Kiffin is one of Carroll's top disciples from his nine-year tenure at USC. Kiffin, a former Fresno State quarterback, worked his way up to offensive coordinator in 2005 while also showing impressive recruiting skills.

For two seasons, he shared responsibility for the Trojans' offense with fellow longtime Carroll assistant Sarkisian, who left USC to take over at Washington after the 2008 season.

Although Kiffin's forceful personality didn't make him a beloved figure among players or administrators, he was a key part of the Trojans' best years under Carroll, coordinating their passing game and providing instruction to quarterbacks Matt Leinart and John David Booty.

Kiffin then became Al Davis' unusual choice to take over the Raiders as a 31-year-old coach with almost no NFL experience. He made it through just 20 games before an ugly public firing in which Davis called Kiffin a liar who brought "disgrace" on the Raiders.

Kiffin was the youngest head coach in the Football Bowl Subdivision last season, but he also brought an unwelcome spotlight on the Vols with several minor NCAA violations.

"I know that I can walk out of here and say this, that we've been here for 14 months and there's not one day I didn't give everything I had to the Tennessee football program," Kiffin said. "We're leaving here 14 months later a lot better team than we were 14 months ago."

Knoxville fire officials and university police were on campus after Kiffin's announcement as students burned mattresses and gathered around the athletic department building in hopes of blocking Kiffin from leaving campus. It was not clear if Kiffin was still on campus at the time.

"I think the students have had kind of a violent reaction to that, and a lot of them are disheartened, upset and feel betrayed that less than a year in that he would be leaving and taking off," Knoxville Fire Department spokesman D.J. Corcoran said.

"The Rock," a giant boulder on campus where students often paint "Happy Birthday" messages, had obscenities directed toward Kiffin. Students tried to enter the room where Kiffin read his statement, holding a sign that read "Go home traitor. It's time," mimicking a campaign the university used to promote Kiffin when he was hired. But the students were turned back before Kiffin talked.

Kiffin certainly didn't sound ready to leave after Tennessee's season ended with a loss to Virginia Tech in the Chick-fil-A Bowl, saying the Vols were "just getting started" -- but the Trojans didn't have a vacancy then.

Kiffin told his players about his abrupt departure moments before reading his statement.

"I want to thank coach Kiffin for his work with our program this past year," Tennessee athletic director Mike Hamilton said. "We have already begun a search for the new head football coach of the Tennessee Volunteers, and we'll complete this process as quickly as possible to put the right person in place to lead our great football program forward in the months and years ahead."

During Kiffin's tenure the Volunteers reported six minor NCAA violations ranging from mock news conferences for prospects to mentioning recruits by name on the radio and on his Twitter and Facebook accounts. Three freshman players were charged in an attempted robbery near campus, and the university recently confirmed that the NCAA is looking into the activities of members of the university's Orange Pride student ambassador program as possible recruiting violations.

Kiffin returns to USC with the school facing a years-long NCAA investigation over events during his tenure as an assistant, including Reggie Bush's final years at the school.

Kiffin was suggested as a candidate immediately after Carroll's departure became official Sunday, but many Trojans thought he wouldn't be willing or able to leave Tennessee after just one year. Several coaches with USC ties said they weren't interested in the job, including NFL coaches Jeff Fisher and Jack Del Rio and Oregon State coach Mike Riley.

Monte Kiffin will lend his defensive acumen to a school that annually fielded an impressive defense under Carroll, while Orgeron is likely to return to his role as the Trojans' best recruiter who helped stack Carroll's early USC teams with a dizzying array of topflight talent.

"Ed did a marvelous job during his previous time at USC, and we all know that Monte is a defensive guru," Garrett said. "I know Lane will fill out his staff with other outstanding assistants like them, ones who Trojan players and fans will really like."

When asked for a comment on Kiffin leaving rival Tennessee for USC, Florida coach Urban Meyer told ESPN.com Tuesday night, "No."

A Florida university undercover police officer, accompanying Meyer at the Florida-Kentucky game, said the coach would have no further comment on the matter.

Meyer was accompanied by his wife, Shelley, and watched the first half of the game in the tunnel area just off the court at the O'Connell Center floor. For most of the first half, Meyer was talking to New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who also attended the game.

Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley summed up a nation when he simply said: "Surprised. I'm just surprised."

Pete Carroll Resigns:

Pete Carroll is inching closer to becoming the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks.

The L.A. Times and L.A. Daily News reported that Carroll had resigned as head coach of Southern California on Sunday. And an NFL insider told the AP that Carroll could formally sign a contract with the Seahawks on Monday.

The deal is "not signed but is very close," the NFL insider told the AP.

Carroll emerged as the leading contender for the Seattle job after the team fired Jim Mora on Friday. He met with Seahawks CEO Tod Leiweke on Sunday.

Multiple outlets, including the Daily News, the Times, NFL.com and ESPN, had earlier reported that Carroll had reached a deal with the Seahawks.

ESPN reported that Carroll had convinced his offensive coordinator at USC, Jeremy Bates, to join him in Seattle. Bates had been a contender for the Bears' vacant OC position. ESPN also reported that Ken Norton, Carroll's linebackers coach with the Trojans, will join him in Seattle.

If the deal becomes official, it will be Carroll's third stint as a head coach in the NFL. He went 33-31 in four seasons with the Jets and Patriots in 1994 (Jets) and 1997-1999 (Patriots).

Aubrey Huff:

The Giants filled their need for a left-handed hitter by agreeing Sunday with free agent Aubrey Huff on a one-year contract.

The deal, pending a physical, was initially reported by The Associated Press, which cited a person with knowledge of the negotiations. A baseball official wouldn't confirm the agreement to MLB.com, but indicated that the one-year accord between Huff and San Francisco was indeed in place.

Huff's a .282 career hitter with 203 home runs and 752 RBIs in 10 seasons with the Rays, Orioles, Astros and Tigers. But he's coming off a season in which he hit a career-low .241 with 15 homers and 85 RBIs in 150 games for Baltimore and Detroit.

Huff likely will occupy first base, meaning that Pablo Sandoval will play third and Mark DeRosa will man left field. Like DeRosa and Juan Uribe, who the Giants have acquired in the past two weeks, Huff has played multiple positions extensively. He has logged 361 games at third base, 320 at first and 245 in the outfield, mostly right. But Huff's apparent lack of range at third makes it more likely that he'll play across the diamond, thrusting Travis Ishikawa into reserve status.

Giants general manager Brian Sabean said last week that he wanted to find a left-handed hitter to balance a projected lineup including right-handers DeRosa, Aaron Rowand, Freddy Sanchez and Edgar Renteria.

Huff also might fit the description of the No. 5 hitter the Giants wanted for their lineup. He has batted in the middle of the order for most of his career, spending 517 games at cleanup, 300 hitting third and 264 in the fifth spot.

Huff, 33, has exceeded 100 RBIs in three separate seasons, most recently 2008, when he batted .304 with 32 homers and a personal-best 108 RBIs with Baltimore.

Huff earned an $8 million base salary last year, but the Giants likely signed him for a more modest figure. They reportedly made a two-year, $17 million offer to free-agent first baseman Andy LaRoche, who spurned the bid.

For what it's worth, Huff has been a productive hitter in the few games he has played at AT&T Park, batting .333 (4-for-12) with a homer and two RBIs.

Jamie Varner:

Ben Henderson has clinched the undisputed WEC Lightweight Title by unifying the belt after knocking down Jamie Varner in WEC 46’s main event.

Varner was looking for a comeback by regaining the title but Ben Henderson had other plans with Varner started Piling pressure in the start of the game but couldn’t capitalize from it as Ben Henderson defended his title when he ousted his competitor with a Guillotine Choke and gaining the Lightweight title.

James Varner earned this Lightweight title on Jan 25, 2009 against Donald Cerrone but the match had to be stopped in the fifth round after Varner sustained an injury that prevented him to participate in the match further.

But it was reported in the media that even after recovering on time Varner was actually avoiding competing for the re-match and that forced the authorities to organize an interim bout betweenCerrone and Ben Henderson. Ben Henderson defeated Cerrone to gain the Interim Lightweight title and was waiting for the main battle against Varner for the undisputed title and not only he managed to win it

but dashed Varner’s hope of making a perfect comeback.

Meanwhile Mike Brown also regained his featherweight title via first round submission victory over newcomer Anthony Morrison.
