Comedian Gallagher suffers heart attack



Comic Gallagher, known for smashing watermelons, is "slowly recovering" from a heart attack suffered the day before he was to speak at the Texas Club, its advertising manager, said on Thursday.

"We do not know the results until sometime tomorrow," said Christine Scherrer.

Gallagher, 65, is in stable condition at an unknown Dallas area hospital, Scherrer said.

He was about to go on stage on Wednesday in Hat Tricks Lewisville, Texas, club, when he became ill and was taken to the hospital to the ambulance, she said.

"His family is with him and Hat trick was incredible, with the help and support from everyone," Scherrer said.

His show in Texas, Oklahoma and Oregon is scheduled for next week have been postponed, she said.
