Dez Bryant's mother: Son 'tried to kill me'

 Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant was arrested Monday after allegedly assaulting his mother, Angela, on Saturday, according to De Soto, Texas, police Capt. Ron Smith.

By accident, Bryant became angry when his mother asked him to leave her home during an argument on Saturday afternoon. After a warrant was issued for his arrest, Bryant appealed on Monday and was booked without incident.

Bryant was charged with misdemeanor class for assaulting a female family member and was released after several hours without talking to detectives, Smith said. Bryant's lawyer, West Royce, told The Associated Press his client had posted $ 1,500 bond.

"It's very simple," Smith said. "He and his mom got in an argument. She had a few injuries. We made the arrest."

Police plans to send his case to the end of this week in Dallas prosecutors, Smith said.

West said Tuesday that he is still investigating the circumstances of the incident on Saturday. One of its main tasks, he said, was "to make sure that the family heal."

"I know that Dez loves his mother," said West. "I know his mother loves him."

West declined to say if Dez Bryant and Angela said on Saturday, or that may cause their arguments, but denies that Dez Bryant hit his mother in the face with a ball cap.

"This statement, and I hope that people will be outraged by the assertion, but they must wait until the facts come out to establish whether or not that actually happened. And I say this not happened," West says.

West also denied any previous incidents between the physical Bryant and his mother.

Class of offense is punishable by a fine of up to $ 4000 and up to one year in prison. Bryant's arrest also exposes a possible penalty under the personal conduct policy NFL.

Cowboys said they knew about the arrest but declined further comment. Agent Bryant, Drew Rosenhaus, also declined to comment.

This is the first arrest of Bryant, but it's not the first incident that required police involvement because Cowboys traded up to select the first Oklahoma State star with the 24th overall pick in the 2010 draft.

In January, Bryant was arrested by police but not arrested after the alleged quarrel at a nightclub in Miami Beach.

She served 18 months in prison on charges of selling cocaine in 1997. She also was sentenced to 10 years probation in connection with the April 2009 arrest for selling cocaine to police informants in Lufkin, Texas, and was convicted of two crimes considered for possession of controlled substances, manufacture and supply of controlled substances.

Titans running back Chris Johnson had 18 yards on 10 carries.

STEELERS 32, Cardinals 20 (in Glendale, Arizona) - Ben Roethlisberger threw 95 yards to Mike Wallace in a long pass play in Steelers history, and Pittsburgh handed the Cardinals their fifth consecutive loss.

CHIEFS 28, Raiders 0 (in Oakland, California) - Kendrick Lewis and Brandon Flowers returned interceptions for a touchdown and the Chiefs took advantage of rusty play defender Kyle Boller from Carson Palmer and beat the Raiders.

Browns 6, Seahawks 3 (Cleveland) - Phil Dawson converted two goals in the field of more than 50 yards and the other two are blocked, but it was enough for Cleveland.

SAINTS 62, Colts 7 (New Orleans) - Drew Brees completed 31 of 35 passes for 325 yards and five touchdowns as the New Orleans set a franchise record for points and victory margin.
