People Choice Awards

People Choice Awards:

Stars from Johnny Depp to Sandra Bullock turned out Wednesday to be feted by their fans at the  People's Choice Awards 2010, broadcast live on CBS. But even if you missed the show, here's a cheat sheet to all the must-know moments from the night:

Celebrity Who Seemed Like the Coolest Hang:

Sandra Bullock, who won two awards -- favorite comedy movie and favorite movie actress -- and was casually funny during her speeches. "Nicole [Kidman] and I wore our hair the same way tonight on purpose," she quipped at one point. "So I just wanted to clarify that."

Funniest Quote:

"Oprah, I love you, and I'm sorry to hear your show got cancelled."  -- Ellen DeGeneres, accepting the award for favorite talk show.

Funniest Quote, Honorable Mention:

"One minute you're on top of the world. The next minute, your own mom's not watching the show." -- Greg Grunberg of Heroes, while presenting an award

Awards Show Gesture That Needs To Go:

The earnest heart pat. It was corny when The Big Bang Theory's Johnny Galecki did it while accepting the award for favorite TV comedy. And corny again when Taylor Lautner did it after winning for favorite breakout movie actor.

Most Awkwardly Obvious Product Placement:

Making the Glee cast "order" pizza for the audience, followed by an announcer saying, "This pizza moment was brought to you by DiGiorno."

Cutest Real-Life Couple:

How I Met Your Mother's Alyson Hannigan and her husband, Alexis Denisof. While accepting favorite TV comedy actress, she thanked "my two favorite people, my husband and my baby girl" as the camera closed in on Denisof's handsome face, beaming with pride.

Most Popular (or Would That Be Least Original?) Fashion:

The second-skin little black dress. Too many presenters were squeezed into their teeny frocks: Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls, Paula Patton (Precious), and a very pregnant Jenna Elfman of Accidentally on Purpose.

Most Anti-Climactic Moment:

Taylor Swift winning favorite female artist -- of course. There's no denying her talent, but maybe voters should think about spreading the trophy wealth around. The poor girl has nothing left to say.

Biggest Sartorial Disaster Waiting to Happen:

Mariah Carey's husband, Nick Cannon, had to help her to the stage when she won favorite R&B artist because, as she said, "This dress is a drama." Not only was the gown too long, but Carey's straps were straining under the weight of her cleavage. Perhaps discomfort in her dress is why the singer's acceptance speech was nearly incoherent (just a few days after her tipsy awards-show speech at the Palms Springs Film Festival).

Strangest Expression of Gratitude:

"I sincerely thank you for bestowing on me all your great treasures." -- Johnny Depp, named favorite movie actor, addressing ... everyone. The treasure part was probably an allusion to his pirate movies. But Johnny, I think it's a stretch to say that I bestowed you with treasure. You're welcome, though.
