Eddie Vedder

Eddie Vedder:

Eddie Vedder is an American musician and singer-songwriter who serves as the lead vocalist and one of three guitarists for the American rock band Pearl Jam. Vedder left the Southern California music scene and moved to Seattle, Washington in 1990 to join Pearl Jam where he rose to fame amid the grunge movement of the early 1990s.

He is notable for his “golden baritone” vocal style, and is considered a cultural icon of alternative rock. He has also been involved in other music outside ofPearl Jam , including soundtrack work and contributions to albums by other artists. In 2007, Vedder released his first solo album as a soundtrack for the film Into the Wild (2007).

The matter that has cropped up is that the Pearl Jam star recorded Gordon Peterson’s tune Hard Sun in 2007 for Sean Penn’s hit film which won many accolades, which was Peterson’s original piece of writing in 1987, he wasn’t at all happy when he heard the full version of the song because he felt that the rock icon had altered the lyrics.

As a result of the above incident Peterson is now suing Vedder and has filed papers in New York’s Manhattan federal court. The filed paper clearly stated that “Vedder altered certain key lyrics of Hard Sun… eroding the integrity of the composition.”Not only he is suing Vedder but also Universal Music Group, after allegedly licensing the track without his permission.

Vedder’s lawyer was seen telling New York Post that “We don’t see any basis for a copyright infringement claim.”

We just have to wait for the final decision from the court.
