'Swamp People' star Mitchell Guist dies


Cast member of reality show "Bog People" died on Monday, the sheriff said of Louisiana.

Assumption Parish Sheriff Mike Waguespack said Mitchell Guist was pronounced dead at the hospital. He fell while aboard his boat on the Intracoastal Waterway, near the part of Pierre.

The story, which produces the reality show with the original media, said Guist would have turned 49 on Friday.

"We are saddened to announce that our friend and beloved family member of a bog people, Mitchell Guist, Mitchell passed away .... in the swamp, doing what he loved. We appreciate your respect for private life Guist families and hope that you join us by sending our thoughts and prayers are with his brother, Glenn, and the rest of Guist family, "the network said in a statement.

Initial reports of the deputies in the neighboring parish of St. Martin in the fact that Guist was traveling on waterways around 9 am when he fell, Waguespack said.
