Rachel Brown Hell's Kitchen Death
More than 34,000 Americans commit suicide annually, however, it appears that two high profile victims may have had one thing in common. Both of them appeared on Gordon Ramsey’s reality shows that are notorious for dishing out tough love to their contestants that are aspiring to be chefs.Joseph Cerniglia, 39, leaped to his death from the George Washington Bridge, according to the New York Post. He had appeared on the show Kitchen Nightmares in 2007, and Gordon Ramsey had helped him whip his Italian restaurant into shape. He was deeply in debt at the time and had been struggling to make his business profitable.
In 2007, Rachel Brown also committed suicide after appearing on Hells Kitchen, a reality show that also features Ramsey and is one that he is particularly tough on contestants in. Although it is not believed that their appearances on the shows had anything to do with their suicide, it certainly is a startling connection that will bring a lot of attention to reality television and the negative effects that embarrassing ones self on TV can have on their mental wellbeing.
