Local Atlanta producer Shawty Redd was arrested on New Year's Day for allegedly murdering a man in his home in Henry County near Atlanta, Georgia. According to local Atlanta news outlets:

In the early morning of New Year’s day while Demetrius Stewart professionally known as Shawty Redd, was at his home with another individual, who was not an intruder was also there. An argument ensued between Shawty Redd and this individual. in which this individual threaten violence against Shawty Redd.

Shawty Redd feared his life and felt his life was in jeopardy and retrieved his firearm for self-defense. As a result an individual was shot and killed. Immediately, thereafter Shawty Redd went to the Henry County Police Department and surrender himself. At approximately, 5:30 PM crime scene units were seen leaving Shawty Redd house in Henry County.
