James Fortune:

James Fortune, the gospel music singer, is one of the performers at the 10th “Celebration of Gospel” tonight at 8PM on BET. The event takes place at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles and will be hosted by Steve Harvey.

James Fortune is a gospel singer, graduated from Kempner High School in Sugar Land, Texas and attended California State University, Northridge. His debut album “You Survived” was released in September 2004. The hit single of the same album brought him honors at the 19th American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) Rhythm and Soul Music Awards. The same track topped as the second most popular Gospel song in the country and still now it stands among the top 7 songs since the last three years!

James Fortune was awarded in 2006 the ASCAP Writers Award for “You Survived” and FIYA has been nominated for four consecutive times as the TexasGospel Youth & Young Adult Choir of the year.

Their latest album is “The Transformation” released on 22nd January 2008 and the single “I Trust You” made a record to be at the top place on theGospel radio for 25 weeks and it is still there! “I Trust You” is # 30 on Urban AC charts and #1 at WBLS in New York City, Urban AC’s # 1 station in the U.S.
