Vishnuvardhan Died:

Early reports Wednesday morning have brought forth tragic news that a top actor in the Kannada film Industry, Vishnuvardhan died early Wednesday of a heart attack. The respcted actor, whose real name is Sampath Kumar was age 59. It was reported that he developed breathing problems early in the morning Wenesday and was taken to a private hospital for immediate treatment. However, Vinshunvardhan was soon pronounced dead.

The news has resulted in all schools and colleges in Karnataka being closed on Wednesday due to orders from Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, to honor Vishnuvardhan. There has also been increased security measures taken in Bangalore following Vishnuvardhan's death. There are police road blocks set up around the actor's residence to control the flow of fans showing up to pay tribute and homage.

To his credit, Vishnuvardhan has done 199 films, and has won 7 Filmfare Awards. He was also given an honorary doctorate by Bangalore University in 2005. The well known actor is survived by wife Bharati, also a popular actress, and two adopted daughters Keerthi and Chandana. The news that Vinshunvardhan died has shocked many fans of the "Phoenix of Kannada cinema". May his legacy and life's work live on through his many films.
