The Burt Family was from Pawtucket and Lived on Spring Street and is the place they kept the disabled women prisoner cashing her S.S.checks and Raping her and her Daughter for years.

I rented a apartment from the Burt’s in 1977 after just getting married and was living on Roosevelt ave. in Pawtucket and had got to know the family some, on the face of things good people, but two face they are and your enemy you be. if you cross them. And never make them wait for money as We found out when my wife and I where unable to work for 4 weeks after the Blizzard of 1978 hit Rhode Island and ran out of money.

With a Son just born 9 weeks earlier they made it clear one day after I was still unable to get any money. walt said to me. You will not know when, not know where and not remember WHY when they finished me with baseball bats.

to: from another anonymous:
seriously? back in the 70's no one cared. my mother was constantly beat up by her loser husband (who fortunately died a very slow death), close fist to her face, while pregnant with my sibling, and very pregnant, obviously pregnant, while a people passed by and looked the other way, IN PUBLIC! in the middle of the day. instead of antogonzing victims and prejudging, you oughta educate yourself and understand that there are circumstances where it's easier said than done.

...just another victim

yes things were a "bit" different in the 70's, but not to that extreme. my step-father had his way with me and my 2 sisters, and I got a local dance teacher to notice the bruises. she called DCS and I didn't give a rats ass what my mother told me not to say. you CAN get someone to listen, just never give up. my step father paid the piper, and now in his 70's, not even one of his 5 "biological" kids visit him. he will die a lonely pathetic old man, and I won't care if I even get a phone call....

I really hope that sick, biyatch, Frances Burt, her sick husband, and phsycho son burn in hell. There is no excuse for what they did. I wish I knew them back then because I wouldn't need afraid of none of them. Probably I would have killed that monster of woman.

I did not know the mother, however I did go to school with a couple of her younger foster children in Cumberland, RI in the late 80's/early 90's. One of her youngest was a product of her husband raping their housemaid who they kept locked up in the house. She was slow, poor kid but I remember she always wore pretty dresses with a lot of lace and ruffles. When this was all uncovered she was just taken away and I always wondered what happened to her. After some digging, I found out Francis Burt either lives in Woonsocket, RI or Chepachet, RI. She has a PO Box in both places. There is no physical address available.

Everyones situation is different. For some women it is too dangerous to report abuse. I have burns and scars to prove it. So all of u that don't understand what it is like to not be able to report abuse, stop judging these women that are too afraid to report it

unfortunately the law in the past turned a blind eye to abuse, both of women and kids. My wife was a victim of abuse, her ex is gone now, but it took me some time to get her to understand that love does not hurt. today we have been together for 16 years and I petty the person that would ever try to hurt her again. Any man that hits a woman or does anything to a child is not a man and needs to be taken out in the woods, have his privates nailed to a stump, give them a dull rusty knife and have the woods set on fire.

Big mistake letting her out early! She should have done the 30 years in prison! All the damage she did to those kids can not be undone! Those years she took from the old ladyand the torture! I hope they have a close eye on her.

There's no way it would of ended earlier just from that complaint to the cops. We lived down the street from the Burts and went to school with their children. That threat was the least of what they were doing and getting away with for years. I suggest you read, Randy Burts book Fifth Commandment Atrocity. He lived it first hand. He was the 3rd born son of the Burts who also foster cared 4 other children that was actually the Fathers half siblings from his dad's second marriage. And kidnapped two other children all of the girls including his own biological daughters were raped by him. The mother abused and tortured every single one and brought others into their family cult of thieving, arson, welfare and insurance fraud etc... Definitely none of that would of ended from a tenants complaint of threats. Especially because some tenants traded sex for free rent as well

That movie was NOTHING like the real story of the Burt family. We lived down the street from them and went to school with their kids. It was their own children who were beaten and raped by their own father. The Foster children were actually the Father's half siblings from his Dad's second wife. When they were both killed in an accident is when Walter and Frances took custody of them as foster children. You need to read the Book written by Randy Burt their 3rd son who was able to get away from all of that and is the one that turned states evidence on them. The so called girl Marie in the movie was the daughter of the tenant that they kicked in the basement but she was no victim. She wanted to be part of the Burt family it was like a Cult. She use to hit her mother and call her horrible things. Her Dad was also a prisoner in the basement with the mom. Yes the mom who they call Nadine was raped by the father Walter. But it was the Burt children that were whipped by electrical cords and other horrible means of punishment! The real Marie got pregnant by the father Walter and the mom Frances Hated that baby. Beating on it since the day it was born all the way up to chaining him to a tree in their yard as punishment for crying. His name was Jack not Jeremy and they were not caught and raided by police because Marie escaped and turned them in. She stayed there if her own accord. The movie isn't even close to the True Story of the Burts and shouldn't even be considered about them only very few things in the movie were accurate. Randy Burt who we were friends with as teenagers, his book Fifth Commandment Atrocity found on Amazon gives the True to life story of the infamous Burt Family. Since he Lived it!! Don't always believe what you see and hear on TV.
