Danny Barter Missing Child Case Reopened by FBI

Danny Barter Missing Child Case Reopened by FBI:

Danny Barter
was just 4 years old when he went missing in 1959. He disappeared while on a camping trip with his family in Perdido Bay, Alabama. Danny Barter just seemed to vanish into thin air. And even though young Danny Barter disappeared 50 years ago, his family has held out hope up that one day their beloved Danny would be returned to them - alive and well.

CNN is reporting that the Barter family's sense of hope was bolstered last year when FBI officials announced that they were reopening their investigation into the disappearance of Danny Barter. According to an email sent to the media by FBI spokeswoman Joyce Riggs, a conversation in a public area turned into a viable new lead in the Danny Barter case - and they are running with it.

You get a sense of how just how dedicated Danny Barter's family is to finding him when you consider the fact that they set up a website - dannybarter.com - devoted to that very purpose. On the website the family notes that they believe deeply that someone, somewhere knows exactly what happened to Danny - and that there is a strong possibility that he is still alive.

Another family faced with the same situation might have lost hope long ago.

Etan Patz's father, Stan Patz, still has some hope that Etan Patz will one day be found alive.

In case you may not know, Etan Patz disappeared nearly 30 years ago. Interestingly, Etan Patz was the first missing child to appear on a milk carton. His case was played an important role in the creation of the missing child movement of the 1980s and, as well, helped to inspire the development of various innovative investigative techniques - techniques, in fact, that have helped find scores of missing children.

Stan Patz told CNN that he believes that Etan was either abducted by an evil stranger and murdered, or that he was taken by a sad and lonely woman desperate to take care of and love a child of her own. The second scenario has given Mr. Patz a sense of comfort over the years, but, when a convicted child molester recently confessed to police that his girlfriend once babysat for Etan, Stan Patz became a bit less sanguine.
