Let Shannon Dunk:

If Shannon Brown dramatically improves his public profile by getting into and winning the NBA All-Star dunk contest in February, maybe he’ll remember the Lakers’ support come season’s end when he can opt out of his contract.

The Lakers have a new Web site up to promote Brown’s candidacy for the dunk contest.

Alas, my personal suggestion via my recent column about Brown to Lakers.com Webmaster Ty Nowell — www.shannonrising.com — wasn’t chosen. They went with www.letshannondunk.com, but that doesn’t change the fact that Brown deserves a shot at LeBron James, Dwight Howard and Nate Robinson, if it winds up that all those guys want in.

Brown has another season on his contract after this season at $2 million, but he can opt out of the coming $2.15 million next season and become a free agent.
