Fred Honsberger:

Fred Honsberger dies at 58: KDKA Radio’s Fred Honsberger died here Wednesday morning. Though, the reason of death is yet unknown.

Fred Honsberger was 58 and Funeral arrangements are pending. Honsberger’s name was well-known in the industry far beyond Pittsburgh.

CBS Radio President and CEO Dan Mason said in a prepared statement, “We couldn’t be more proud of the work Fred has done as a dedicated broadcaster over the past three decades.”

Honsberger started his career with KDKA in 1979. He was a news anchor and reporter. He became KDKA Radio’s news director in 1984, a post he held through 1989.
