Arturo Beltran Leyva

Arturo Beltran Leyva:

One of the notorious drug dealers Arturo Beltran Leyva was killed in a gunfight at a luxury residential complex in the southern city of Cuernavaca by the Mexican Forces on Wednesday. The drug lord was one of the most wanted drug traffickers in Mexico and US both since a long time.

Arturo Beltran Leyva ran a drug trafficking cartel with the name Beltran Leyva and he was joined by his four brothers in his “business”. The US Drug Enforcement Administration states that Beltran Leyva, the cartel, was the key organization for importing and distributing oodles of cocaine and heroin all across the US. There was a prize money worth $2.1million as a reward for his capture. Beltran was in fact enlisted by the Mexican Government as one of the 24 most wanted drug lords!

An official of Navy confirmed the news who declined to reveal his name. In his words, “We confirm the death of Arturo Beltran Leyva. He was killed in a navy operation in Cuernavaca.” He also confirmed that Beltran’s four bodyguards were also killed at the shootout. There were more than 200 sailors who raided the luxury residential complex and then started off the gunfight.

After a battle that stretched for around two hours, the drug lord Beltran Leyva, who called himself “The Boss of Bosses” was shot dead by the navy.

The death of Beltran is a victory for President Felipe Calderon who declared a war against the cartels in 2006.
