Vita Chambers:
Vita Chambers is an upcoming rocker from Barbados. She had her music uploaded on MySpace and guess what? Evan Rogers (the guy who found Rihanna) called her up and asked her to meet. The 15 year old teenager went to a magazine called “Seventeen” and gave an exclusive interview. She also gave them some of her tracks to listen. She has her songs marketed at iTunes; you can buy her songs from there.
The interview with 17 is as follows:
17: How did you get started in this industry?
Vita Chambers: I’ve always been singing, and in Barbados I got four demos almost done. I set up my MySpace and pretty much hoped for the best. Then a week later, I got a phone call from Evan Rogers saying, “I’d like to meet you,” and I was like, “Oh my goodness this is amazing!” because he discovered Rihanna.
17: Do you have any advice for readers who want to get discovered?
VC: Don’t give up, that’s the basic thing. Continuously work and work and work. Hard work pays off. Nothing is worth having if you don’t have to work hard for it. And definitely start a Myspace page. I think that’s the main thing.
17: How would you describe your style?
VC: I’m pretty much that rocker-chick girl that you see on the street with that chic element that’s still rocker and very edgy.
17: What’s the best bargain you’ve gotten?
VC: I got an awesome pair of Frye boots. They look amazing and they go with every outfit. I wear them every day.
17: What are your three favorite beauty products?
VC: Lip gloss, mascara and eyeliner.
17: What’s the makeup trend that you wish you could pull off?
VC: You know the cat eye thing girls always do? I can never get it done!
17: Do you shop alone or with friends?
VC: I love shopping with friends, but I don’t mind shopping by myself. But friends are the best — you know what we do? We go into stores with the most hideous looking clothes and we go in and try on the clothes and just break out in hysterics.
17: What’s the craziest thing that you’ve tried on?
VC: They had these boxers with frills on them, and they were completely uncomfortable. It was hilarious.
17: Do you ever end up buying any of the crazy stuff you try on?
VC: I have bought a few things that I never thought I would wear, but they actually look pretty cool. There you go – that’s the result of trying on things that you would never wear!
