Luanda, Angola, 19 June – The Angolan government plans in September to launch a programme to support housing construction, as part of the National Urbanism and Housing Programme underway in the country, the deputy Finance Minister, Manuel da Cruz Neto said Thursday.
Speaking in Luanda, the deputy minister said that it was the "A Nossa Casa” (Our House) programme, which would make it possible to build 600,000 homes across the country, within a programme that aims to build 1 million houses in four years.
Cruz Neto said that the price for acquiring the self-build kit would vary between US$20,000 and US$25,000, for standard houses between 100 and 120 square metres in area.
According to the deputy minister, for the programme to be launched, 400 houses will be built in Luanda, “which will make it possible to assess the market’s level of acceptance.”
In terms of criteria for access to the houses, he said that these had yet to be established, but hoped that the National Commission for Urbanism and Housing would provide that information before the project began. (macauhub)
